Distance gigs cost you fuel, wear and — most of all — hours. Set a free radius, then charge fairly for the miles and the time beyond it.
HMRC's approved rate is 45p/mile — a sensible floor.
Travel hours are working hours — value them.
Round to a clean number for the quote — e.g. £115.00.
Most UK mobile DJs include a free radius (15–30 miles is common), then charge mileage both ways beyond it — HMRC's 45p/mile approved rate is a fair floor that covers fuel and wear. The bigger cost is time: a venue 90 minutes away takes three working hours before you've plugged in a single cable, so price those hours at a rate you'd accept for any other work.
Gig Nest itemises travel automatically on quotes when an enquiry's venue sits outside your radius — the maths happens before you've read the email.
